The other day Martin and I took a trip to the arboretum. Martin had an exciting new gig, and me? I’m the #supportivegirlfriend.
His gig doesn’t pay great, but it does pay in experience, and at the end he will have a great letter of rec.
Why, he’s conducting the duck orchestra, of course
If you see the bag of bread in his hand… uh, dont. I just mean that of course that bread wasnt for the ducks because there’s so obviously a sign and we are sign obeyers, so stop being ridiculous.
Anways, the concert started with Quack-sody in Blue by Gershwin; a classic. It did bring a tear to my eye, however, as you can see in the picture, half the orchestra was facing away from the conductor so there was some timing issues.
They finished with a few select symphonies (mostly Bach), and the crowd (me) burst into applause. The duck orchestra was very dignified, except for the stand up bass section. They all kinda waddled away mid-performance. And I’m super proud of Martin; he really commanded the room and all most duck eyes were on him.
So that was fun. Oh and I got coffee someday. A month ago I got a memo from the building I work at that said a coffee cart would be in operation Tuesday-Thursday! The company, Eden Coffee, looked very nice so I had to try it out. Heres my thoughts!
1. Location: 5/5
Dude, c’mon. It’s a traveling coffee bar that so conveniently parked right outside my work. I’m going to pretend they knew I worked there and wanted to personally give me a little private coffee bar service (it’s not just for me, but also, at the same time, isn’t it?)
2. Aesthetics/Vibe: 8/10
I always feel weird for rating coffee on wheels. ITS COFFEE ON WHEELS. And yet, it does have a certain aesthetic, a vibe that needs to be diagnosed. I diagnose this vibe as an eight. Its a cute little cart tucked in a corner by my building, and it feels like it belongs there. On the days its not there (Mondays and Fridays) there are orange cones in its place. Those cones are a 4 at best. The below picture was taken from their insta, so imagine that cart, but in the outdoors.
The guy making my coffee asked me about my job, but I signed an NDA, so he essentially asked me about Fight Club. I get so awkward when people ask me about Fight Club :(
3. Coffee options: 7/10
I was a little disappointed with the choices. I mean, they were fine! Everything that should be there, is there. They have lattes, cappuccinos, flat whites, all the good good. They even have italian sodas which is super fun! If you wanna get a flavor, they have vanilla, caramel, mocha, and honey.
I always hope for a seasonal drink or something to make each caffeine dealer stand out, but unfortunately there was nothing here like that, so a bit sad.
4. Actual Coffee: 17/20
I got an iced vanilla latte. If you were to look into my brain at any given day, you would really just see an ongoing battle between the kingdoms of vanilla and caramel. Vanilla and caramel are TOP TIER and the battle is fierce. Watch out though, caramel just got a hold of gunpowder and vanilla figured out how to dig trenches. It’s not going to go well.
Where the f was I? Oh yeah. My latte was good! Nothing to write home about, but I enjoyed it. It was on the slightly less sweet side. I got regular milk, but this is my official advertisement to you all to try oat milk in your lattes. IMO, oat milk pairs great with nutty flavors; I love pairing it with hazelnut, and it’s great with honey too. Try it out :)
5. Prices: 8/10
My yummy guy was $6.25. Good price, enough said! Woo!!!
6. Cups: 3.5/5
Saddest thing in the whole world alert!!!! My cup (for an iced drink) had no logo or anything. I’ve become used to this disappointment, but it always still stings a bit, yunno? Eden does get a boost because their cups have that little sippy lid instead of a straw, and I LOVE that. It’s just so much more fun and fancy!
Alright, the moment we have all been waiting for…
FINAL SCORE: 48.5/60 = 80.8%
A fair B- for a solid caffeine dealer on wheels! Y’all, summer is coming to a close soon so here’s what to look for in the future:
Dunkin drops pumpkin spice August 16th
Sbux drops pumpkin spice at the end of August (exact date TBA)
As for me, I will be working on a new lil mini series on coffee at home! I’ll tell all y’all about different coffee makers and how to make your own setup if you want to make lattes from the comfort of your home. YIPPPEEEEE!!
See y’all around
